Homeownership Key: 2020 Design Trends
Keeping your home feeling fresh and on trend never ends. By now you’ve heard that Pantone’s 2020 color of the year is Classic Blue. One of my bathrooms is painted a deeper blue then this and I love the splash of color, so if you want some advice on how to incorporate this into your home I’m happy to chat.
Here a few more design trends you can keep in mind throughout 2020:
Quartz Counters - This material is well priced and comes in so many colors and patterns, it’s chosen by 51% of renovating home owners.
Slab Backsplashes - A slab of one material allows you to ditch the grout lines and make a bold statement.
Colored Cabinets - Think back to classic blue or an earthy green. This touch allows you to break up all that white and gray.
Black is Back - High contrast designs are in and so are matte black fixtures.
Curvy Furniture - I probably won’t try this myself, but I’d love to come to your house and hang out.
Boho Art - Fabric wall hangings and art are in.
My best advice is that your home should feel like you! My mom thought my dark blue bathroom was crazy (she only said it with her eyes and slight hesitation in her voice), but once she saw the walls against white subway tile coordinating blue and while floor tile and a white vanity, she was onboard. (She also thought gray grout on the floor was a mistake but loved it once it was done. This is the best decision I made. My floor never looks dirty)! I have a lot of gray in my home, but my bedroom ceiling is cloud pink which is not on trend at all but it makes me think of sunsets and happy memories. You should live in your home the ways that make you happy. When you’re ready to sell it you can worry about painting it the color the stager recommends that will match the staging furniture.
