Lifestyle Key: Support Local Businesses When Holiday Shopping
When it’s time to holiday shop, it’s extremely easy to do all of your shopping online. I’m guilty of this, but I also make an effort to support local businesses. This year, I’ll be getting my nephews books from Politics and Prose (if the NW DC location isn’t convenient for you, they also have locations at The Wharf and Union Market).
You know I’m the product of a small business owner, so this is something that’s extra special to my heart. There are tons of reasons to support small businesses, so I won’t go into them all. Here’s a list of places you can shop to either support local craftspeople or local businesses:
Shop Made in DC - As the first store dedicated to only Made in DC products, the
Dupont Circle, Georgetown and Wharf locations are home to over 200 makers and nearly 5,000 MADE IN DC products including apothecary, apparel, art, furniture, jewelry, home decor and stationary.Union Market - Union Market is a place where businesses scale and grow – where neighbors, students, DC transplants, artists and tourists come to find a community they can shape and call their own.
Salt and Sundry - Salt & Sundry is a home + lifestyle boutique featuring an eclectic mix of goods from independent makers and designers, both local and from across the globe.
Willow - A clothing store in Petworth.
Eye Street Cellars - Fine Wine, Spirits, & Beer
