Motivation, Setbacks, and Podcasts

Motivation, Setbacks, and Podcasts

When I started in real estate, I was convinced I wouldn’t drink the Cool Aid. I would do my own thing and not buy all the books and listen to all the podcasts.

Compared to many, I’m still not big into all of it, but I have started buying in. I took a seminar over the winter focused on mastering the basics which got me into Brian Buffini’s podcast. I listened to “A Setback is a Setup for a Comeback” yesterday. The story of Sylvester Stallone having sold his dog for $50 right before he sold the script to “Rocky”, then turning down multiple lucrative offers for the screen play that didn’t have him starring in the film, and then agreeing to less money for a starring role because no one thought he could be a successful lead actor got me fired up and feeling like I could accomplish anything (but my kitchen will have to wait another day to be cleaned).

Since 2020 feels like a setback to say the least, this was the jump start I needed. The last few weeks, I’ve been feeling like there’s not enough time to run a business, be a partner, be a mom, clean my house, and keep my sanity. So I’ve been looking for motivation in new places. If Sylvester Stallone can create a billion dollar movie franchise, I can get through being at home in a pandemic.

I never thought I would be a motivational podcast person, but apparently I am. What do you do to shift your mindset?
